When Andrew and his brother are captured by the British soldiers and thrown into a filthy prison, his life is changed when an officer slashes him across the face with his sword for refusing to follow an order. Can he survive his injuries? Will someone help him escape?

A young Andrew Jackson seemed born for politics, as a fiery and passionate young man concerned with justice, but his Mother had hoped he would become a Minister in the church. To his Mother’s surprise, Andrew’s interest in politics and fighting for the common good led him down another unforeseen path. 

After his older brother dies in battle, Andrew is inspired to enlist in the military. When he and his other brother are taken hostage by the British, their will to go on and fight for their country is challenged. 

Can they withstand the torture and torment imposed on them? Or will they break?

Luckily, their courageous Mother goes on a crusade to rescue her sons. Sadly, his brother dies from illness on their journey home, nearly breaking the spirits of Andrew and his Mother. But, alas, his Mother is inspired to return where she is needed and help and care for the other injured and ill soldiers. Andrew reaches a turning point when his last living family member, his Mother, dies. At that very moment, he decides he is destined for more, and his momentous journey toward becoming the 7^th President of the United States of America begins.
